Graphene Leaders Canada (GLC) Inc. Announces Completion of Advanced Graphene-Enhanced EN Coating System with Increased Performance and Commercial Deployment
Edmonton, Alberta – April 15, 2026 — Graphene Leaders Canada (GLC) Inc., a Canadian advanced materials company, is pleased to announce the successful completion and commercial deployment of its graphene- enhanced electroless nickel (EN) coating additive technology. The Company has now achieved commercial readiness, supported by strong technical results, growing industry adoption, and active customer engagement. Electroless nickel (EN) coatings provide significant value across multiple industries by enhancing the durability and reliability of critical components exposed to harsh operating environments such as industrial manufacturing, oil & gas, automotive, marine and mining applications. This advancement enables longer service intervals, improved asset reliability, and meaningful lifecycle cost savings, making EN + graphene a next-generation solution for high-performance surface protection.
In sectors such as oil and gas, EN coatings are widely used on downhole tools, valves, pumps, and pipelines, where improved corrosion resistance can substantially extend equipment life in the presence of corrosive fluids, high pressures, and abrasive conditions. This directly translates into reduced maintenance frequency, fewer unplanned shutdowns, and lower replacement costs—key drivers of operational efficiency and profitability.
Enhancement with GLC’s graphene further amplifies these benefits by providing a highly effective barrier against corrosion and improving wear and abrasion resistance. Graphene-enhanced EN coatings help reduce the rate of material degradation, maintain surface integrity under extreme conditions, and improve overall coating performance without requiring changes to existing processes.
Following an intensive development and testing program, GLC has been granted proprietary intellectual property for this product solution and successfully engineered a graphene-based additive that integrates seamlessly into standard electroless nickel (EN) plating processes without disrupting bath chemistry, plating rates, or operational performance. This advancement enables immediate industry adoption while delivering significant and measurable improvements in coating performance.
Results of standard-based corrosion testing and abrasive wear testing have proven that the graphene provides industrially significant improvements to both the corrosion and wear resistance relative to standard EN. Recent results from ongoing testing have demonstrated up to 65% improvement in corrosion resistance and 20% improvement in abrasive wear resistance compared to conventional EN coatings. These results represent a meaningful advancement in coating performance for industries operating in harsh and demanding environments.
“Achieving this level of performance while maintaining full compatibility with existing electroless nickel systems is a significant technical milestone,” said Andrew Migdal, Engineering Director of GLC. “Through precise control of graphene dispersion within the plating bath, we have been able to enhance corrosion resistance and wear performance without compromising bath stability, deposition rates, or process integrity. This demonstrates that our additive is not only technically robust, but also commercially viable within standard EN operations”.
GLC has successfully secured commercial applicators, starting with an Alberta company, and is actively advancing a growing pipeline of opportunities across North America. In collaboration with an Alberta-based applicator, the Company has initiated pilot programs that are attracting interest from established industrial companies. These efforts reflect strong market traction and are expected to accelerate adoption, drive commercialization, and significantly expand GLC’s presence and revenue opportunities throughout 2026.
GLC’s graphene-enhanced EN technology offers a compelling value proposition by extending asset life, reducing maintenance costs, and improving operational reliability without requiring changes to existing infrastructure. This ease of integration, combined with measurable performance gains, positions the technology as a scalable, high- impact solution for global markets.
With commercialization now underway, GLC is focused on scaling production, expanding its customer base, and establishing recurring revenue through licensing agreements and additive supply.
