Graphene Leaders Canada (GLC) Inc. Dr. Leah Coumont to Keynote Global Nanotechnology Standards Summit in China
Edmonton, Alberta – November 7, 2025 — Graphene Leaders Canada (GLC) Graphene Leaders Canada (GLC) Inc. is pleased to announce that Dr. Leah Coumont, Director of Research & Development, will be a keynote speaker at the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) TC 113 Plenary Meeting taking place November 17–21, 2025 in Shenzhen, China.
Earlier this year, in January 2025, Dr. Coumont was appointed Chair of Canada’s Mirror Committee to IEC Technical Committee 113 — the global standards body responsible for nanotechnology for electrotechnical products and systems. This national appointment recognized her dedication to standards development, and diligence in work as an expert on graphene-related standards.
Her keynote presentation, titled “Standards as a tool to bridge chemistry and engineering in nanoelectronics: a case study using electrochemical sensors” will highlight the use of standards to build confidence in graphene related 2D (GR2D) materials, such as our graphene nanoplatelet inks and additives, in electronics. Emphasis will be on using standards as a tool to facilitate commercial application of these nanomaterials by building trust between producers and end users, focusing specifically on the development of the GLC Sensors.
With this appointment, Dr. Coumont continues her nearly decade-long work in an international group of scientific and industry leaders in standards development with the hope of expanding Canadian committee membership, promoting the exceptional work completed by the committee, and proposing new projects relevant to commercialization of GLC’s products.
“This is a tremendous honour and responsibility,” said Dr. Coumont. “As Canadian nanomaterial manufacturers and users are pushing to grow their companies, maintaining a Canadian voice in global standard development activities is essential to accelerating industrial adoption while ensuring product integrity and safety.”
“We are immensely proud of Dr. Coumont,” said Donna Mandau, President & CEO of GLC. “Her dedication to grapheneand nanomaterialsstandarddevelopment onbehalf of Canada reflects not onlyher scientific excellence, but also the credibility and impact of GLC’s work in graphene dispersion technology and nanomaterials research and development. This appointment brings further visibility to the world-class talent advancing graphene innovation right here in Alberta.”
GLC continues to advance graphene technologies for high-value applications including corrosion/erosion protection, structural materials, composites, sensors, and lubricants. Dr. Coumont’s international leadership role strengthens the company’s position at the forefront of global graphene standardization and commercialization.
